HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE AUTHOR:
This translation is a project of love for fans, by fans! We appreciate each and every one of you.
If you enjoyed our work and want to show your love, we accept fanfic, fanart, comments, memes, and more QQ stuff to translate. ❤
Do you allow re-translations to another language?
YES, WITH CREDIT AND A LINK BACK, AND IT MUST BE FREE.
If you’re translating it to another language, please also support the author by buying her book as per above.
I’m really tired of my translations being repeatedly reposted or re-TL on Wattpad without proper credit, so if you’re posting it on Wattpad, I will respectfully decline.
Note that my translations are more in line with free translation as opposed to literal translation, so do bear this in mind when you’re re-translating to another language.
Do you allow EPUBS or re-posting?
NO. PLEASE DON’T.
We firmly request that you don’t repost the translations on any other website (especially Wattpad) in any format.
Why are your footnotes like that?
For the best reading experience, we recommend reading the chapters in the original format instead of the WordPress reader.
(or just so darn long)
There is inevitable loss when translating a contextually dense language. Often there are incidences of cultural, historical or poetic context that are cited briefly, but not elaborated on in detail on the novels because the audience is expected to already have some understanding of it. I try to explain these in (maybe too much detail) because this is such a beautifully written, well-researched novel.
I also like to include the more unique/archaic/uncommon terms, or wordplay/jokes or that I find significant that might aid your enjoyment or give a better overview of what’s going on as you read the story.
- IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TEXT
For several reasons, but first and foremost because WP doesn’t allow us to use tooltips so that the details can appear on a mouse-over, without having to upgrade to a business plan which is about $300 a year. Secondly, it’s because it would be very disruptive for someone to scroll down to the bottom of the page to read the footnote before going back to where they were last at.
- INCLUSION OF PINYIN AND THE CHINESE CHARACTERS
I’ve had feedback that people like seeing the actual Chinese characters, and the hanyu pinyin gives some idea of how to pronounce them; the reader can also C&P them to search and find out more (if this is their preference).
